1.0     HTML – An overview

HTML is short form for Hyper Text Markup Language. It is the standard mark language for building web pages. The average website includes several pages or example, a home page, an about page, and a contact page each with separate HTML files.

HTML documents are files that end with a .html or .htm extension. A web browser reads the HTML file and renders its content so that internet users can view it.

1.1     History of HTML

HTML was invented by Tim Berners-Lee in 1991. This version is what we refer to as version 1.0. HTML has gone through several improvements as the time line below shows.
